Extras - Private Domain Names
What is WHOIS Privacy?
When you register a domain name, your contact details are included in a publicly available database known as the 'WHOIS database'. This is primarily useful for identifying those behind a domain name to either validate business details or to contact the owner in an emergency.
Unfortunately there are also numerous downsides to having contact details so readily available:
- Spammers regularly harvest email addresses from the WHOIS database, leading to even more spam in your Inbox
- Not everybody wants to publish their contact details for all to see. If you're running a website as a hobby, in many cases you simply don't need or want your details to be so easily found.
Whatever your reason, we're able to offer you the ability to protect your contact details. For just £15 £8.99 we'll provide you with a private WHOIS record for your domain for as long as the domain is with us!
How do I enable it?
To enable WHOIS privacy simply:
- Enter your domain
- Select your payment method
- Complete the payment
- We'll set up the private WHOIS record as soon as we can
- You can then relax
